Casa Mariantonia

In the heart of Anacapri

Discover the other side of Capri

Many only know the island of Capri for the Piazzetta, the Faraglioni rock formations, and the luxury shopping.
But there is "another Capri", quieter and perhaps more authentic, where visitors can languidly stroll, discover small artisan workshops and neighborhood corner stores, stop for an espresso at the local cafè, and relax on the ceramic-tiled benches to watch the local children play soccer in the sun.
This is Anacapri.

Casa Mariantonia is located on Anacapri's main pedestrian street, right in the center of town and just steps from the bus stop for routes to all the island's main sights.

Easy excursions

Casa Mariantonia boasts an excellent location. By day, it's easy to reach all the most famous sights on the Island of Capri: Villa San Michele and the chairlift for Mount Solaro are just steps away, and the bus stop for routes to the center of Capri, the Blue Grotto, Marina Grande, and the lighthouse is a short walk.

In the evening, it's wonderful to stroll down Anacapri's main street with its locals, exploring the excellent traditional restaurants and people-watching. However, if you are looking for a glamorous night out in the clubs near Capri's Piazzetta, no problem!
The Capri-Anacapri bus runs until 4 a.m. in the summertime, and there are taxis available 24 hours a day.

The Blue Grotto can be visited during a stop on your boat tour of the island, or by going directly to the cave entrance and boarding one of the small wooden rowboats which carry visitors inside. From Casa Mariantonia, you can take the short walk to the cave entrance or go by bus.

Villa San Michele

This was the residence commissioned by the Swedish physician and writer Axel Munthe and built on the most scenic point in Anacapri.
Today, the villa is a museum where visitors can view a turn of the century home with its collection of archaeological artifacts found on the island and one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Italy. It's an easy walk from Casa Mariantonia.

Mount Solaro

From atop the island's highest peak, visitors enjoy a panoramic view over the Island of Capri, the Gulf of Naples, the Amalfi Coast, and the islands of Ischia and Procida. You can reach the top comfortably seated on the chairlift which departs from Piazza della Vittoria (just a few meters from Casa Mariantonia) and, if descending on foot, stop by the Cetrella Hermitage on the way back down.

The Church of San Michele

In this tiny church near Casa Mariantonia, the spectacular majolica floor depicting Adam and Eve's expulsion from the Garden of Eden is a must-see.

The Punta Carena Lighthouse

Anacapri's lighthouse is the second largest in Italy and towers over Punta Carena, one of the most popular spots for locals who want to take a dip in the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean.
We recommend going at (or staying until) sunset and enjoying nature's light show with a cocktail in hand.
